In 2019, I had the privilege of working as the Lighting Designer for Michael Kiwanuka during his festival performances, European and American tours, and several of his European TV appearances. Collaborating with an artist of his caliber was a rewarding experience that allowed me to craft lighting designs tailored to his soulful music and unique stage presence.

 

Throughout the tours, I worked closely with Michael and his team to develop dynamic lighting concepts that enhanced the mood and emotion of his performances, ensuring that each show offered a distinct visual identity while maintaining the artist’s signature aesthetic. From intimate venues to large festival stages, I adapted the lighting to suit a variety of settings, all while maintaining consistency with his artistic vision.

 

Additionally, working on his televised appearances across Europe presented the challenge of designing for both live audiences and broadcast, ensuring the lighting worked seamlessly on screen while maintaining the energy of a live show. This experience not only honed my technical skills but also deepened my ability to interpret and translate music into impactful visual experiences.
